Spent. May 2026 Newsletter

Recording without a full script felt dangerous. Independently writing a whole post, impossible.

When a mentor first suggested burnout, I dismissed it as ridiculous.

I didn’t have time to figure that out.

Until I didn’t have time not to.

Burnout made everything harder. And lucky me, there was a technological breakthrough at my disposal.

I became overly reliant on AI, which let me ignore the burnout for a little bit longer. The more burned out I felt, the more I turned to AI.

I went from “I’ll never use AI to write for me.” to “It’s not writing for me if it knows my style and I feed it my ideas.”

AI is helpful until it’s not.  Until you find yourself relying on it to quickly get through the tasks you once enjoyed. Pushing through by posting more with less effort made things  worse (for me and my content performance).

Did I even enjoy creating? Or was this a story I’d sold myself on?

The only way to answer these questions was to stop. Pull back. Recalibrate - my mind and my creative muscles. I deleted social media apps. I gave myself permission to slow my output. I took vacations. I stopped filling every dead minute with another podcast.

So I’ve been quiet lately. Fewer videos. Infrequent posts. A few months sans newsletter.

I was regrowing after burnout turned my creativity into charred earth.

My mind was barren until quiet walks started sprouting small ideas.

This was where discipline came in. I needed to protect this delicate creativity from the ease of AI. I rebuilt the muscle of accepting the pressure and possibility of a blank page. And then, joy returned.

The problem with AI slop isn't just the poor quality. It's the way it steals your chance to think deeply, and create something with true impact.
